A SWIFT code (also known as a BIC code) is a unique identifier code used to identify financial institutions for international money transfers. It is a standard format of Business Identifier Codes (BIC) and serves as an international bank code for money transfers.     

A SWIFT code is made up of 8 or 11 characters, which include letters and numbers. The first 4 characters of the code identify the bank, the next 2 characters identify the country, and the last 2 characters identify the location of the bank's branch. For example, in the SWIFT code "ABCDEFGHIJK", "ABCD" would identify the bank, "EF" would identify the country, and "GH" would identify the location of the branch.
