Summary of
assigned duties:
Under the
supervision of National Professional Officer- Family, Gender and Life Course
(HSS) and overall guidance of the Public Health Administrator and WHO
Representative to Nepal, following duties will be performed:
- Work closely with Maternal and New-born Health Section at Family Welfare Division (FWD) and WHO CO to implement Maternal and Perinatal Death Surveillance and Response (MPDSR) and Birth Defect (BD) surveillance related work plan activities;
- Provide technical support in capacity enhancement programs of MPDSR and BD surveillance in collaboration with FWD;
- Support FWD to monitor data reported from hospitals and local bodies for maternal death, perinatal death and birth defect surveillance in the web-based system;
- Provide technical support to FWD to ensure quality of online MPDSR and Birth Defect surveillance data in terms of timeliness, completeness and coverage in collaboration with FWD;
- Coordinate to review and analyze data at the national and sub-national levels on MPDSR and birth defect;
- Share relevant information generated from the MPDSR and Birth Defect surveillance web-based system monthly to FWD and WHO focal points;
- Technical support to revise MPDSR guidelines, tools, training packages as needed;
- Coordinate to update the online tools in case of modification;
- Provide technical support to develop annual report on MPDSR;
- Any other tasks as assigned by supervisor

- Better understanding of service delivery structures for maternal and new-born health and related guidelines;
- Knowledge of health information systems, issues and implementation barriers at the national and subnational levels;

- Capacity to manage in diverse team and adoptive to the circumstance;
- Good computer skills including office software applications;
- Excellent written and oral communications skills;
- Proven ability to work under pressure and multitask;
- Overall attitude at work.
- Essential: University degree in Nursing or public health.
- Advance University degree in public health.
- Essential: At least 2 years of experience in of working in health program with managing and analyzing health related data.
- Familiar with Health Management Information System.
- Proficiency in the use of Microsoft Application suite
