With the establishment of Its Embassy in Nepal In August 2009, Switzerland's assistance in Nepal continues to focus on federal state-building, employment and income through agriculture, rural infrastructure, and vocational skills, as well as migration. Switzerland is committed to supporting Nepal's socio-economic development and federal state building at national and sub-national levels.

We are looking for a young, energetic Nepali National female candidates are encouraged to apply) for the following positions of 2 years fixed term contract with possibility of extension:

Knowledge Management and Communication Manager (1)
As a member of the Embassy of Switzerland, this position extends support to the Ambassador and its Development Cooperation section to plan, develop and implement communication and outreach strategies in order to proactively and effectively interact with the public, the media, and the Swiss Community. The Knowledge Management and Communication (KMC) Manager also supports the management to plan and control the Country Programme on an annual and quarterly basis and capitalize lessons learned and process management. The incumbent is also responsible for managing information knowledge and documentation and to assist Head of Mission in the provision of reports and data to HQ.
  • Specific fields of activity:
  • Write and/or oversee the preparation, production, and dissemination of both routine and complex outreach products (e.g., press briefings, news releases, social media articles (on Facebook, Twitter, Instagram etc.), radio/TV broadcasts, brochures, videos, websites, speeches, briefing notes, feature stories, etc.) that connects the Swiss Agency for Development and Cooperation SDC with the internal and external audiences;
  • Manages internal knowledge sharing and learning processes
  • Manages the Cultural Portfolio of the Embassy.

Required Technical Competence
  • Master's degree in communications/journalism/political science/public relation or related field; Professional experience of minimum of 3 years of in journalism, public relation, communications (ideally public information or content production), and knowledge management; In-depth knowledge and understanding of social media platforms, their respective participants (Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, YouTube, etc.) and how each platform can be deployed in different scenarios; In-depth knowledge and understanding of PR strategies, management and execution of PR campaigns and initiatives; Fluent in written and spoken English and Nepali; Good knowledge of computer and different software applications including data management, web management and use of internet / intranet: Excellent communication skills (written and oral) and editorial skills.

Executive Office Manager (1)
As a member of the secretarial team, the post holder will assist the Deputy Head of Mission/Head of Cooperation and closely collaborate with the Secretarial Team in areas of coordination between the Ambassador and the Deputy Head of Mission.

The Executive Office Manager supports the Secretarial Team in:
  • Managing contacts with the Swiss Federal Department of Foreign Affairs (FDFA) and external stakeholders (e.g. other diplomatic missions, international development agencies, offices of the Government of Nepal, etc.);
  • Effectively managing the day-to-day meetings, calendar management, and other associated services e.g. managing logistics for meetings, coordination of representation events/official dinners, preparation of guests list, etc.);
  • Preparing formal letters, speaking notes, and Diplomatic Notes;
  • He/she will work closely with the Deputy Head of Mission/Head of Cooperation to provide support to the Programme Management.

He/she will provide relief to the Assistant to the Ambassador's Office and undertake other tasks and responsibilities as/when assigned by the Ambassador or the Deputy Head of Mission.

Required Technical Competence
Master's degree in Business Studies/Business Management, or other relevant field; Diploma in Secretarial Science; At least 3 years of experience in relevant field; Excellent spoken and written English and Nepali; Excellent knowledge and aptitude of computer and different software applications; Excellent communication skills, including ease of communication with diplomatic missions and offices of the Government of Nepal; Excellent organizational skills.
