DV Lottery 2021 Dates and Instructions

The US State Department has announced the dates of entry for Electronic Diversity Visa Lottery, DV Lottery 2021. The registration period for DV Lottery 2021 will begin on Tuesday, 2 October 2019 and will end on Tuesday, 5 November 2019.

What is new for DV 2021?

Though DV 2021 has not yet been open yet on the official lottery website https://www.dvlottery.state.gov/ but the instructions for the new lottery have already been posted online.

NEW FOR DV-2021:
You will need PASSPORT to apply DV Lottery 2021 program this time, so this is new for DV 2021.

NEW FOR DV-2021: The passport number, country of issuance, and expiration date for the principal entrant’s valid, unexpired international travel passport. This requirement applies to the principal entrant only, not to dependents. You must enter valid international travel passport information unless you are stateless, a national of a Communist-controlled country and unable to obtain a passport from the government of the Communist-controlled country, or the beneficiary of an individual waiver approved by the Secretary of Homeland Security and the Secretary of State.

When will DV 2021 registration opening date?

The DV 2021 entry period will run from 12:00 pm (noon), Eastern Daylight Time (EDT) (GMT-4), Wednesday, October 2, 2019, until 12:00 pm (noon), Eastern Standard Time (EST) (GMT-5), Tuesday, November 5, 2019.

Applicants selected in the program must meet simple but strict eligibility requirements in order to qualify for a diversity visa. The Department of State shall determine the selected by means of a randomized computer drawing. The State Department distributes diversity visas between six geographic regions, and no single country may receive more than 7% of the DVs available in any one year.

Ineligible Nationals: For DV-2021, the nationals of the following countries are not eligible to apply:

• Bangladesh
• Brazil
• Canada
• China (mainland only)
• Colombia
• Dominican Republic
• El Salvador
• Haiti
• India
• Jamaica
• Mexico
• Nigeria
• Pakistan
• Peru
• Philippines
• South Korea
• United Kingdom (except Northern Ireland)
• Vietnam

Persons born in Hong Kong SAR, Macau SAR and Taiwan are eligible for registration.

How many individuals will be selected for DV-2021?

For Fiscal Year 2021, there will be 55,000 Diversity Visas available.

Registration Fee: FREE

The registration for the DV lottery is free, so there are no costs to register for this program.
