Vacancy at British Gurkhas Kathmandu;

JOB PURPOSE:
The communications officer will be a key member of the Headquarters British Gurkhas Nepal (BGN) and vital to maintaining the British Gurkhas reputation externally across Nepal and internally with the UK Ministry of Defence. The post holder will deliver this through proactive management of BGN’s media presence across all media and an intelligent understanding of Nepal’s media landscape. Specifically, the post holder will be responsible for:

KEY TASKS: 
  • Maintaining BGN’s social media presence
  • Generating articles in a variety of media to reinforce BGN’s key messages in both Nepal and UK.
  • Developing and maintaining professional links with Nepal’s media and journalism industries.
  • Developing and managing BGN’s communications plan.
  • Responding to emerging news stories that impact BGN’s delivery and reputation.
  • Advising the chain of command on lines to take and media management.
SUCCESS PROFILE:
The successful candidate will have journalism or similar degree level qualification, recent experience in Nepal’s journalism industry and demonstrate strong interpersonal skills and the ability to work to tight deadlines and changing priorities.   Must be proactive and creative and possess the following behaviours and strengths:

DESIRED EXPERIENCE AND QUALIFICATIONS: 
  • Recent quality journalism nationally
  • Degree or equivalent in journalism 
  • IT literate. 
BENEFITS : 
Salary: NPR 96,869.00/month
Other benefits: Dashain Bonus, Gratuity, Provident Fund 
Duty Hours: 37 hrs a week 
Leave: Annual 25 days, Public Holidays 10 days 
Medical: 100% reimbursement for job holder and limited reimbursement for immediate dependents
