Gwaramari is
a puffy soft crunchy small round bread, a famous Newari breakfast which is best
served warm with tea for breakfast. It is a traditional Newari Community breakfast.
The word Gwaramari, “Gwara” means round and “Mari” means bread in Newari so-called Gwaramari, around small puff & soft bread.

Here, ingredients
and simple steps to prepare Gwaramari:
Ingredients:
- 250 gm plain flour
- 1/2 tsp baking powder
- 1 pinch turmeric powder, cumin powder
- Oil (enough for deep frying)
- Salt to taste
Steps:
- Put flour in a bowl and mix all the ingredients i.e. baking powder, turmeric powder, cumin powder properly.
- Pour warm water into the mixture stirring it continuously to make a thick paste not thin.
- Keep it aside for half an hour or two.
- Heat a deep frying pan with oil in medium heat to bring it to hot enough.
- Now, take a small amount of mixture in your hand, make round, and dip it gently to the heated oil. The dough will puff up and rise to the top of the pan. You can add multiple balls at the same time.
- Fry the dough till it becomes golden brown.
- Now, remove the Gwaramari with slotted spoon and place in a plate using a paper towel to soak the extra oil.
All done. Enjoy the
hot and crunchy Gwaramari.
