Dhido is a traditional Nepali food generally prepared in the hilly region of Nepal. It is an everyday food for many people in rural part of Nepal. (Looks like pudding)

This is generally prepared of wheat and considered to be healthy food. Some people also use corn flour or ground grains to make Dhido. It is light food and also it is long lasting as people do not feel hungry very soon after eating Dhido.

Dhido - Nepali Food

Now a days, Dhido meal set are easily available in the restaurants with different side dishes.

Simple way of cooking Dhido that only requires two ingredients, time and effort.
  1. ½ Kg Wheat Flour (or corn flour if you want)
  2. 1 L water
Method to prepare:
  • First- Heat water in a deep pan and bring it to boil.
  • Then add the wheat flour and stir constantly. and make sure that it does not form bubbles or knots. Keep mixing the flour thoroughly with the water.
  • Stir constantly 7 – 8 minutes and let it simmer in medium heat. Do not stop stirring as that might result make the flour burn at the edges.
  • Stir and cook it until the water evaporates and mixture changes to brown. The Dhido (looks like pudding) changes its color to light brown and we can make sure that the Dhido is cooked now.
Serve it hot with Curries and Achar.
